Great article (even if you are an expart living in China and just want to setup a satellite dish). Thanks for that, but:

• Why do you need such a performant CPU?
• Does the software need a GUI, so a desktop (x-server, gnome or something) is needed?
• For the compiling of FIBRE?
• Or is decoding of the signal in real time demaning such CPU power?

I would prefer some lighter version like a arm-cpu in a raspberry pi.
